The Cross-Country Parish & school program continues to grow each year with the participation of new schools as well as many unattached athletes with the help of dedicated volunteers. The Cross-Country program is a quality program that maintains the CYO’s mission maintaining integrity, fair play, and the right of all individuals to participate as well as offering young people the opportunity to develop moral standards. The program and its participants emphasize that winning is measured by enthusiasm, hard work, good sportsmanship, improved form, and community building. Roughly 1300 children participate in this program annually.
The Sacred Heart Cross Country program is low-pressure. Kids can participate while also being involved in other sports or activities. The season officially begins in September and runs through early November. Practices run twice a week on weekdays, and up to seven CYO cross country meets, culminating in the Archdiocese Championships. Regular registration will be open to students of ALL abilities in Grades 2-8. New this year, separate registration for meets only (no practices) will be open for students in Grade 2 who do not wish to attend practices and also for students in Grades K-1.
